Oscars 2022: five across the face and honoured artists

Jane Campion received an Oscar as the Best Film Director for her movie The Power of the Dog at the 94th Oscars Award Ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday, 27 March.
Family drama CODA won in the Best Movie category. The movie tells the story of a deaf girl and her road in the music world.
Jessica Chastain won an Oscar in Best Actress category for her role in The Eyes of Tammy Faye. Will Smith won Best Actor for his role as as Venus and Serena Williams’s father in the movie King Richard.
Before the ceremony Smith shocked the audience when he slapped the host of the ceremony Chris Rock after the latter joked about Smith’s wife.

Ariana DeBose won Best Supporting Actress in Stephen Spielberg’s West Side Story Remake. Try Kotsur won an Oscar in the Best Supporting Actress for his role in CODA.
Jane Campion is the third woman to have won an Oscar in the Best Film Director category, and the first woman to have been nominated for an Oscar in this category. The first time was 28 years ago for the movie The Piano.
Among the nominees in the Best Film Director category were Stephen Spielberg with West Side Story Remake, Kenneth Branagh with black and white drama Belfast, Paul Thomas Anderson with Licorice Pizza and Ryusuke Hamaguchi with a three hour-long drama Drive My Car.
Musical fantasy comedy Encanto won an Oscar as the best animated movie.
Hans Zimmer won an Oscar for the Best Original Score for the music in the movie Dune. Billie Eilish and Finneas Baird O’Connel won an Oscar in the Best Original Song category for No Time to Die in the latest James Bond movie.
Summer of Soul won and Oscar as the Best Documentary. The movie Drive My Car won an Oscar in the category Best International Feature Film.
The movie Belfast won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. CODA won an Oscar in the category Best Adapted Screenplay.
