Retired colonel: Russia lacks manpower to actively progress in Ukraine

Russian forces lack manpower to actively progress deeper in Ukraine, said former commander of Latvian Ground forces, retired colonel Igors Rajevs in an interview to TV3 programme 900 sekundes this Monday, 14 March.
Intense fighting continues in many areas, but there is no movement of the front line. Neither side is able to gain any tangible advantage over the other.
He said Russian forces may execute massive strikes in some areas but they lack manpower, and it is the main reason why clashes continue in areas where they have been for a while.
He admitted that Ukraine’s army remains able to hold major cities. The retired colonel adds it is important for Ukrainian forces to maintain fighting capabilities in each area.
If it is maintained, resistance will continue, he added.
Rajevs also said the Russian army will continue increasing the brutality of the operation and will continue bringing in reinforcements.

He believes Ukraine will win in the end and the flag of Ukraine will remain hoisted in Kyiv.
As previously reported, on 24 February Russian army attacked Ukraine, performing strikes on military and civilian targets, causing many to leave their homes and become refugees.
