Tanzanian writer Abdulrazak Gurnah has been named the laureate of the Nobel Prize in Literature 2021. His masterful novels on the effects of colonialism have been written in English.
On Thursday, October 7, the Swedish Academy named the author as the writer of the year «for his uncompromising and compassionate penetration of the effects of colonialism and the fate of the refugee in the gulf between cultures and continents».

Borin in Zanzibar in 1948 the author moved to the UK in the 1960s. His most notable works are Paradise (1994), By the Sea (2001) and Desertion (2005).
