Latvia’s healthcare declares a state of emergency

On Thursday, 7 October, Latvian State Operational Medical Committee decided to declare a state of emergency in the country’s healthcare sector, as confirmed by Minister of Health Daniels Pavļuts.
This means healthcare institutions will be authorized to act more freely with resources available to them in order to provide assistance to both Covid-19 patients and patients suffering from other problems.
The Ministry of Health previously reported that a state of emergency in the healthcare sector would serve as the last signal to residents that the situation in healthcare institutions is very complicated and that everyone needs to do what they can to help limit the spread of Covid-19.
