While the weather earlier this week was largely influenced by cyclones—bringing rain to many areas—the influence of an anticyclone will strengthen towards the weekend. According to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre, although precipitation will decrease, fog may still form at night in some places, and in parts of the country, temperatures could drop below 0°C on certain nights.
As the week draws to a close, atmospheric pressure will gradually rise, and the sky will see varying cloud cover. On Saturday, rain is expected during the day in the western and central regions; by the night into Sunday, light rain will be confined to the central regions, while the day itself will bring dry and predominantly sunny weather.
During this period, fog may form at night—primarily in the eastern and central regions—and in some places, it may persist into the morning or even the forenoon.
Meanwhile, a light to moderate southerly wind will blow, shifting to a northerly direction by Saturday afternoon.
At night, temperatures will generally cool to between +3°C and +8°C, though in some eastern areas, frost is possible, with temperatures dropping to between 0°C and -2°C. During the day, maximum temperatures will range from +8°C to +13°C, with Friday being a couple of degrees warmer. At the beginning of next week, the center of an anticyclone will approach Latvia, bringing pleasant, dry weather with frequent sunshine. Daytime temperatures will reach +7…+12°C, while at night, slight frost may still occur in some places.
