Weekend to come with the first storm of winter

Towards the end of the week, the center of a cyclone will approach Latvia from the west; the days will be cloudy and rainy, but most significantly, the wind will strengthen and become gusty. Along the coast, the wind will gradually pick up during the night leading into Friday, and during the day, gusts will reach 17–22 m/s across almost the entire country, while in the evening, gusts in western Kurzeme could reach as high as 25–27 m/s, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
The wind will gradually subside on Saturday morning, though the weekend will remain windy along the coast.
The coming week will begin with calmer weather conditions; there will be rain in some areas, but the wind will blow at light to moderate speeds.
A yellow-level wind warning has been issued for the entire territory of Latvia from midday Friday until Saturday morning, while an orange-level warning is in effect for the coast starting Friday evening.
On Friday, the 9th of October, the skies will be mostly cloudy, and a precipitation zone will cross Latvia from the west; rain will occur intermittently across most of the country, and thunderstorms are possible in some areas during the evening. In the middle of the night, the wind will shift to the south-southwest and strengthen in western Kurzeme, blowing at moderate to moderately strong speeds with gusts reaching 15–17 m/s.
During the day, the westerly to south-westerly wind will strengthen across a wider area, with gusts reaching 17–22 m/s; however,

the gusts are expected in the evening along the western coast of Kurzeme, where they may exceed 25 m/s.

Both the minimum nighttime temperature and the maximum daytime temperature will range from +9°C to +14°C.
While windy conditions will persist in many areas during the night leading into Saturday, the wind will gradually subside towards morning, although gusts of up to 20 m/s will remain along the coast until the night leading into Sunday. On Sunday, the wind will shift to the south-southwest and blow at light to moderate speeds. As the wind calms, fog will form in some areas during the night and morning hours. The weekend will be rainy; thunderstorms and heavy downpours are possible in Vidzeme during the night leading into Saturday. Nighttime temperatures will drop to +6–11°C, while daytime highs will not exceed +11–15°C. Compared to the weekend, weather conditions will be less dynamic early next week; rain clouds will still appear in some areas, and winds will generally be light and southerly. Inland, temperatures will drop to +4…+7°C at night, while daytime highs will reach just a few degrees above +10°C.
