Latvia will see more rain clouds and gusty winds along the coast towards the end of the week, but from Sunday an anticyclone will approach the country, bringing dry and sunny weather during the first half of next week. Daytime temperatures will be a few degrees higher than in recent days, reaching up to +20°C in some areas, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
On Friday, the 25th of September, skies will be overcast, with intermittent rain expected across most of the country. Overnight, light to moderate north-westerly and westerly winds will blow, with gusts reaching 15–18 m/s along the coast. During the day, winds will turn westerly and south-westerly, while along the coast they will remain north-westerly to westerly, with gusts of up to 15 m/s.
Overnight temperatures will fall to +9°C to +14°C, while daytime temperatures will be a few degrees higher.
Cloudy skies will persist on Saturday, bringing intermittent rain to most of the country overnight, while only light rain is expected in central and eastern regions during the day.
Fog will thicken in some areas during the second half of the night and in the morning.
Light southerly winds will prevail, while along the Baltic Sea coast light to moderate westerly and south-westerly winds will gust up to 14 m/s. Temperatures will fall to +9°C to +14°C overnight and rise to +11°C to +16°C during the day.
On Sunday, skies will be partly cloudy, with light rain expected in many areas. Winds will gradually ease and become light during the day. Overnight temperatures will fall to +9°C to +14°C, while daytime temperatures will reach +15°C to +18°C.
During the first half of next week, an anticyclone will determine the weather, bringing more pleasant conditions. Rain will ease, the sun will make an appearance and temperatures will rise to +16°C to +20°C. Winds will remain light.
