On Thursday, the 24th of September, brief periods of rain are expected in some areas, while a new precipitation zone will spread across Latvia from the east during the day. Under its influence, rain will continue across most of the country on Friday, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
Rainfall will be prolonged in many areas and heavy in some central and eastern regions. Winds will be light, but during Thursday they will turn north-westerly along the coast, with gusts strengthening to 15 m/s.
On Friday, light to moderate north-westerly and westerly winds will continue in western Latvia, while across the rest of the country winds will turn southerly and south-westerly.
Fog will form in many areas overnight into Thursday, reducing visibility.
Overnight temperatures will fall to +8°C to +13°C.
In some eastern regions, however, the night into Thursday will be cooler, with temperatures of +6°C to +8°C. Daytime temperatures will reach +11°C to +16°C.
On Saturday, the weather will continue to be influenced by a cyclone, bringing rain to most of the country.
From Sunday, however, the influence of an anticyclone will strengthen, bringing drier conditions and more frequent sunny spells. Daytime temperatures will also gradually rise in the sunshine, reaching up to +20°C in some areas.
