Russian state television host and prominent Kremlin propagandist Vladimir Solovyov has urged Russians to prepare for the possibility that Ukraine will soon develop its own ballistic missiles, according to Dialog.UA.
Solovyov expressed concern that Ukraine is nearing the deployment of a domestic ballistic missile system. He warned that Russian cities could eventually face a fate similar to that experienced by occupied Donetsk, which has repeatedly come under attack during the war.
During his television programme, Solovyov effectively accused Russia’s state propaganda machine of misleading the public about the seriousness of the situation.
“It’s all ‘ha-ha’ and jokes on television, as if there is no war. Then the ballistic missiles will start hitting. And if anyone doesn’t know how quickly hell can arrive, look at life in Donetsk or Belgorod. Look how quickly peaceful life disappears. Do you really think you can hide somewhere? Wake up!” Solovyov said.
In recent months, Ukraine has significantly intensified its drone strikes against targets inside Russia,
causing major fires at oil refineries and other strategic facilities, including Wildberries logistics warehouses.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has previously warned that Moscow itself could come under attack if Russia continues its strikes against Ukraine, according to Reuters.
“Ukraine did not want this war. We have never wanted it, and everyone knows that,” Zelenskyy said. “But if Ukraine burns, then your Moscow will burn as well.”
The Ukrainian president has also called on Europe and the United States to increase pressure on Moscow by imposing additional sanctions on Russia’s defence and energy sectors in an effort to force Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war.
Zelenskyy stressed that there is still time for the international community to increase pressure on the Kremlin and argued that ordinary Russians should also recognise the consequences of the conflict and demand an end to the war.
