Latvia will begin the new week with rain, thunderstorms and strong wind gusts, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
On Monday, skies will be mostly cloudy, although some sunny spells are expected. Rain is forecast overnight in the western and central parts of the country, while showers will spread across much of Latvia during the day. Some areas may experience heavy downpours and thunderstorms.
Light to moderate southerly and southwesterly winds will prevail, becoming gusty during thunderstorms. From the afternoon, winds in western Latvia will shift to the west and northwest, with gusts reaching 15–17 metres per second.
Overnight temperatures will range from +14°C to +18°C, while daytime highs are expected to reach +22°C to +27°C. Western Latvia will be cooler, with temperatures between +18°C and +21°C.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, sunny intervals will alternate with clouds bringing occasional showers.
On Tuesday, thunderstorms and locally heavy rain remain possible.
Light to moderate westerly and southwesterly winds will continue across the country. Coastal areas are expected to remain windy on Tuesday, while thunderstorms may also produce sudden and strong wind gusts.
Night-time temperatures will fall to +11°C to +16°C, with parts of eastern Latvia cooling to around +10°C by Wednesday morning. Daytime temperatures will range between +18°C and +22°C.
Weather conditions are expected to become warmer and more settled towards the end of the working week. Sunshine will become more frequent, winds will ease, and showers will become isolated.
However, thundery showers are forecast to become more widespread again over the weekend.
Current forecasts indicate that Friday is likely to be the warmest and driest day of the week, with temperatures exceeding +25°C across almost all of Latvia.
