Fog was observed in parts of Latvia at the beginning of the week, and similar conditions are expected to develop locally over the coming days. During the second half of the week, weather conditions will become more unsettled, bringing more frequent rainfall and strengthening, gusty winds, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
Wednesday and Thursday are expected to remain dry. Light to moderate northerly winds will prevail, while patches of dense fog may develop in some areas during the night and early morning. Overnight temperatures will generally fall to between +13°C and +18°C, while daytime highs will reach +23°C to +28°C, remaining a few degrees cooler along the coast.
On Friday, light rain is forecast in western and central Latvia. With light winds, fog may again form overnight and in the morning, particularly in the Kurzeme region.
Night-time temperatures will remain similar to previous days, while
daytime temperatures are expected to reach +21°C to +26°C.
A cyclone will approach Latvia over the weekend, causing atmospheric pressure to fall. Conditions will become cloudier, with rain expected across much of the country and winds strengthening. On Sunday, wind gusts along the coast could reach 15–16 m/s.
More active cumulonimbus cloud development is also expected over the weekend, increasing the likelihood of thunderstorms. Overnight temperatures will range between +14°C and +18°C. While temperatures on Saturday will still climb to +20°C to +25°C, a cooler air mass will gradually move into Latvia on Sunday, bringing temperatures down by several degrees.
