Eight Russian tankers hit in one night as Ukraine releases strike footage

Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces carried out overnight strikes on eight Russian “shadow fleet” tankers in the Sea of Azov, according to the commander of Ukraine’s drone forces, Robert Brovdi, who also released video footage of the attacks on the fuel-carrying vessels.

“The shadow fleet is leaving the chat. Eight tankers belonging to the Russian Federation’s shadow fleet were located and destroyed in a single night,” Brovdi said, adding that “the battle over fuel supplies to Crimea in the Sea of Azov continues.”

The damaged vessels were identified as Venera-3, Sanar-1, Sanar-17, Klimena, Teti, Aleksey Savrasov, and Penelopa, while the name of the eighth tanker is still being verified. Built between 2006 and 2012, all of the vessels are subject to international sanctions. Brovdi said the attacks also damaged a cargo ship and a ferry, adding that all of the targeted vessels sustained significant damage and caught fire.
According to Brovdi, Ukrainian forces also destroyed 58 military targets in Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine during the same night. He said energy infrastructure facilities in Crimea were also destroyed, “burning together with logistics infrastructure.”
