Ukraine has suffered a large cyberattack, which has prompted EU ministers to voice their support to Kyiv, announce the readiness to activate its cybersecurity capacity and reopen the Normandy format of negotiations, Belgian news portal EurActiv reports.
«We are mobilising all our resources to help Ukraine deal with this type of cyberattack,» High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell noted in a press conference in Brest, France on Friday, January 14. Responding to the question, where he thinks the attack came from, Borrell refused to speculate without certain evidence. «One can very well imagine with a certain probability or with a margin of error, where it can come from,» he, however, implied.

Borrell stated that an urgent meeting of the EU’s Political and Security Committee and said the EU’s rapid response cybersecurity units were being activated to provide assistance to Kyiv.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian told reporters in Brest that he and his German counterpart Annalena Baerbock plan to make a joint visit to Ukraine as Paris and Berlin signalled readiness to reopen the negotiations of the the Normandy format, where Ukrainian, Russian, German, and French officials have convened for years to help end the conflict between government forces and pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine, EurActiv wrote.
