Rainfall system to cross Latvia from the west, bringing rain clouds

On Wednesday, the 10th of June, a precipitation zone will move across Latvia from the west. According to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre, rain is expected overnight in the western and central regions, spreading to eastern parts of the country from the morning onward.

Light to moderate westerly winds will prevail. Daytime temperatures are expected to reach +16°C to +21°C.

On Thursday, weather conditions will be influenced by a cyclone whose center is forecast to move across eastern Latvia during the day. As a result, rain is expected in many areas overnight and throughout the entire country during the day. In eastern regions, rainfall will be heavy and prolonged, accompanied by thunderstorms and intense downpours during the afternoon.

Winds will remain light, although from midday onward gusty northerly and northeasterly winds are expected along the Gulf of Riga coast. Overnight temperatures will fall to +10°C to +15°C, while daytime temperatures will range between +13°C and +18°C. In southeastern regions, temperatures may climb as high as +20°C to +25°C.

On Friday, showers and thunderstorms will continue during the first half of the night in eastern Latvia.

Rain clouds will remain present across the rest of the country both overnight and during the day. Skies will generally be cloudy, with occasional clear spells in some areas. Light to moderate westerly winds are expected.

Overnight temperatures will remain similar to previous days, while daytime highs will reach only +14°C to +18°C.

During the weekend and at the beginning of next week, sunshine will alternate with clouds, although some days will be cloudier than others. Winds will remain light, and conditions will continue to be wet and humid, with frequent rainfall expected. Temperatures will be slightly lower both at night and during the day, with many areas unlikely to exceed +20°C during daylight hours.
