Rosļikovs, who initially fled to Belarus, may have been in Germany and Italy in recent days, it was said today during a Riga City Council meeting.
Today, Riga City Council is deciding on the annulment of Rosļikovs’ mandate as a council deputy.
While asking questions, council deputy Vjačeslavs Stepaņenko (SV/AJ) asked whether council members are allowed to join council meetings from European Union countries, such as Italy.
After receiving an affirmative answer, Stepaņenko asked why Rosļikovs had been denied the opportunity to join yesterday’s council meeting from Italy. Stepaņenko admitted that he had communicated with Rosļikovs, who, according to him, was in Italy.
Riga Mayor Viesturs Kleinbergs (P), however, said that when communicating with Rosļikovs, the deputy had stated that he was in Germany.
As reported, Riga Regional Court has upheld the security measure of detention imposed on Riga City Council deputy and former leader of the party Stabilitātei!, Aleksejs Rosļikovs, Latvian Television reported.
Rosļikovs is not currently in detention because he has fled the country. The politician has revealed that he is staying in Belarus, claiming that he and his family face threats in Latvia. The prosecutor urged that such statements by Rosļikovs be viewed critically.
Rosļikovs has been placed on the international wanted list. Once the responsible authorities determine his location, the court will decide whether to resume the criminal proceedings. It is possible that the criminal case will be heard in court without his presence.
