At the end of the week and in the first half of the new week, the weather conditions will continue to be affected by cyclone activity, which means that it will rain in many places, with heavy rain and thunderstorms also expected in some places. However, in the middle of the new week, the weather conditions will begin to be determined by an anticyclone, reports the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
A warmer air mass will gradually flow into the country – the minimum air temperature at night will mostly be +4…+9°, but during the day in the eastern and central regions of Latvia the air will warm up to +20…+22°.
On Friday, the 15th of May, in the first half of the night it will rain briefly in the west, while during the day short-term rain is expected in other places in Latvia, locally thunderstorms and heavy rain at night are possible. A slow wind will blow, but in places during the storm strong gusts of up to 14 m/s are possible. After the precipitation at night and in the morning, fog will thicken in places. At night the air will cool down to +4…+9°, but during the day the maximum air temperature will be +16…+21°, in places on the Kurzeme coast a few degrees colder.
On the weekend, weather conditions in Latvia will be affected by cyclone activity, so the holidays will be marked by dynamic weather conditions.
On Saturday night, short-term rain is expected in places in the west, but during the day in many places in the country,
locally also heavy rain and thunderstorms. During the storm, the wind may become gusty. At night, fog will thicken in places in the east, which will worsen visibility.
Sunday will also be cloudy, only in places in the east the clouds will disperse. It will rain mainly in the east of the country, locally thunderstorms are also possible. At night the minimum air temperature will be +7…+12°, while in Kurzeme it will be colder, there +4…+8°, but during the day the thermometer will reach +16…+21°, on the Kurzeme coast the weather will still remain colder: +11…+16°.
The beginning of next week will also be rich in precipitation – rain is expected in many places, storm clouds may also form, but the continuation of the new week will bring not only drier, but also sunnier weather. The air temperature will remain within similar limits – during the days the air will warm up above +20° in a wider area.
