Warm weather up to +23°C expected in Latvia over the weekend

On Friday, calm and mostly dry weather is expected across Latvia, with variable cloud cover and fewer clouds in the western regions, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.

At the beginning of the night, light rain may still occur in some eastern areas, but no precipitation is expected during the day. With light winds, fog will form in many areas overnight and may persist into the morning hours, reducing visibility in places. Air temperatures will drop to 0 to +5°C at night and rise to +11 to +16°C during the day, reaching up to +16 to +19°C in some western and central regions.

Over the weekend, conditions will remain mostly warm, although cloud cover will gradually increase. On Saturday, skies will be partly cloudy and no precipitation is expected, though fog may form in some eastern areas overnight, temporarily reducing visibility.

On Sunday, cloud cover will increase further, and rain is possible in some areas during the day, mainly in the western parts of the country. A light to moderate south to southwesterly wind will blow, becoming gusty in some eastern areas on Sunday. Temperatures will remain spring-like, with +4 to +10°C at night and +17 to +23°C during the day, while coastal areas will be cooler.

The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre notes that as the influence of a cyclone strengthens, more frequent precipitation and gusty winds are expected on Sunday evening and across most of the country by Monday. Daytime temperatures will still rise above +20°C in many areas. From Tuesday onward, precipitation will gradually decrease and winds will ease, but as a cooler air mass moves into Latvia, daytime temperatures will drop and stabilize around +15°C.
