Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that the Ukrainian army has taken Russian positions using only ground robots and drones, reports Politico.
Zelensky said on the 13th of April that for the first time in the history of this war, enemy positions have been taken using only robotic systems – ground robots and aerial robots. The occupiers have surrendered, and the entire operation was completed without the involvement of infantry and without losses on the Ukrainian side.
The Ukrainian army has expanded the use of ground robotic systems to carry out various offensive operations and to evacuate wounded soldiers from active combat zones, where evacuation operations involving humans would mean their death.
Currently, they are being conducted remotely, with the soldiers at a safe distance.
Ukrainian defense industry company Devdroid reported that in January, the Droid TW-7.62 ground robot, equipped with artificial intelligence elements for autonomous target detection, capture and tracking, captured three Russian soldiers.
Zelensky noted that in the first three months of 2026, ground robots have completed more than 22,000 missions on the front line. This means that more than 22,000 lives have been saved by sending robots on the most dangerous missions instead of people. ” This is about high technology protecting the highest value — human life,” added the Ukrainian president.
