“No ideas how to fight anti-vaxxers” – Latvia’s Health Minister admits in interview

The biggest problem in Latvia’s healthcare system is insufficient funding, Health Minister Hosams Abu Meri (New Unity) said in an interview with TV3.

In the politician’s view, the more is invested in medicine, the more life expectancy indicators improve. Abu Meri promises to improve prevention and screening in several disease areas in the coming years.

According to the minister, reform of the hospital network in Latvia is necessary due to a shortage of medical specialists. He believes that

efforts to encourage healthcare professionals to work in the regions are gradually yielding results.

Abu Meri admitted that he does not really have ideas on how the state could further combat principled “anti-vaxxers,” unless Latvia were to become a distinctly police-like state.
