On Friday, the sky will be mostly cloudy with occasional clear spells. Light snow is expected in some areas during the night, while the day will pass without significant precipitation. A light to moderate westerly wind will blow. The minimum air temperature at night will range between -9°C and -14°C, while along the coast it will be -5°C to -10°C. During the day, temperatures will rise to between -2°C and -7°C, and in western parts of the country may reach as high as +1°C to -2°C, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
On Saturday, skies will still clear in some places, but from midday clouds in the western and central regions will bring snow and sleet. A light to moderate southwesterly to southerly wind will blow. From the second half of the night, wind speed will increase along the coast, with gusts reaching 15–18 m/s. Minimum night-time temperatures will be between -6°C and -11°C, while in Kurzeme and coastal areas between -2°C and -6°C. During the day, temperatures will rise to -1°C to -4°C.
On Sunday, cloud cover will completely blanket the sky as a widespread precipitation zone reaches Latvia.
Snow is expected mainly at night, transitioning to sleet and rain during the day. A light to moderate southwesterly to southerly wind will continue to blow. As warmer air gradually moves in, night-time temperatures will drop only to between -1°C and -6°C, while daytime maximum temperatures will range from +1°C to +3°C.
At the beginning of the new week, air temperatures will remain warmer than previously, with thermometers fluctuating around 0°C in some areas. However, on certain days — particularly during the night — temperatures will still remain below freezing. Precipitation is expected from time to time, mostly in the form of snow and sleet, with rain also possible during daytime hours.
