Estonia plans to build 600 bunkers on Baltic Defense Line

As part of the creation of a joint Baltic Defense Line with Latvia and Lithuania, Estonia plans to build up to 600 bunkers on its eastern border, writes ERR News.
The Estonian Defense Investment Center (ECDI) and the Latvian Ministry of Defense have launched a joint procurement procedure for the construction of bunkers. ECDI representative Krismar Rosin said that the total cost of the project is estimated at 60 million euros, of which approximately 30 million euros have been allocated already this year.
The parts necessary for 28 bunkers have arrived in Estonia this year, and nine bunkers have already been built in the southeast of the country. ECDI plans to continue the construction of bunkers in both the southeast and northeast of Estonia.
ECDI Deputy Director Asko Kivinuk said that the construction of bunkers is gradually moving forward. He added that

the experience gained has allowed the project to continue, preparing a larger procurement.

Estonia has also placed all planned obstacles in their intended places, and continues to dig anti-tank ditches on the defense lines. ECDI informed that the Baltic Defense Line, in the currently planned volume, will be completed by the end of 2027.
The initiative aims to create a defense line on the borders of Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia that could stop or delay a possible military attack from hostile neighboring countries.
