Tuesday will be sunny, although clouds will occasionally cover the sky, and no precipitation is expected, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
With light winds, fog will form in some areas, reducing visibility. During the night, air temperatures across most of the country will drop to –13…–18°C. It will be slightly warmer along the coast, while eastern regions and, in some places, central areas will become even colder, with temperatures falling to –20…–24°C. During the day, thermometers will rise to –9…–14°C, but in western Latvia and in many coastal areas temperatures will be milder, at –4…–8°C.
On Wednesday and Thursday, cloud cover will increase, with only occasional glimpses of sunshine. On Wednesday morning and during the forenoon, light snowfall is expected in northeastern regions, while Thursday will be dry.
During the night into Wednesday, winds will remain light,
but during the day they will turn easterly to northeasterly, blowing at light to moderate strength and reaching gusts of 15–16 m/s along the Kurzeme coast.
During the night into Wednesday, air temperatures will range from –4…–9°C in northwestern regions to –20…–25°C in southeastern parts of the country. During daylight hours, temperatures will rise to –8…–13°C, while northwestern regions will again be slightly warmer, at –2…–7°C.
On Thursday, temperatures will be a couple of degrees higher. Toward the end of the week, easterly winds will continue to bring cold air into Latvia, and therefore no thaw is expected in the coming week.
