More than 65,000 unemployed people in Latvia

At the end of October this year, Latvia’s actual unemployment rate was 6.8%, which is 0.1 percentage points higher than in the corresponding period last year, according to data from the Central Statistical Bureau.

Meanwhile, over the past month, Latvia’s actual unemployment rate has not changed significantly, the statistics authority reports.

Among women, the unemployment rate in October 2025 was 5.7%, while among men it was 8%. Over the month, the unemployment rates for both women and men remained unchanged.

In October, there were 65,700 unemployed people in Latvia – 300 fewer than in September, but 3,300 more than in October 2024. Over the month, the number of unemployed men decreased by 100 to 38,100, and the number of unemployed women also fell by 100, reaching 27,600.

The registered unemployment rate at the State Employment Agency (NVA) at the end of October was 4.7%, unchanged since September. Compared to October 2024, the registered unemployment rate has decreased by 0.4 percentage points.
