On Wednesday, the weather will remain cloudy, with some clearing only in the first half of the night. Most of Latvia will experience precipitation – wet snow, snow, and during the day also rain – with a 2–4 cm snow cover forming in some places. A light to moderate westerly wind will prevail. At night, air temperatures will drop to +1…–2°C, while during the day they will stay within 0…+5°C, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
On Thursday, clouds will continue to cover most of the sky. During the night hours and again from midday, precipitation is expected in some areas, mainly wet snow and rain, but in the east also snow. Winds will blow lightly to moderately from the south and southwest, but in the morning will shift to the south and southeast, reaching up to 14 m/s in gusts along the coast. Air temperatures both at night and during the day will remain within +2…–3°C.
On Friday, clouds will bring precipitation to most of the country – wet snow, rain, and in some places snow. Southern and southeastern winds will blow moderately to rather strongly, shifting during the night to southwesterly and westerly, with gusts up to 15–16 m/s.
At night, temperatures will fall to –1…+2°C, and during the day will not exceed +2…+6°C.
Clouds will continue to dominate the sky over the weekend, though occasional sunny intervals may appear in some areas. Precipitation is still expected in various forms, as nighttime temperatures will be negative in many places, in some areas reaching –1…–5°C, while daytime temperatures in most of the country will rise above 0°C.
At the beginning of next week, a new cyclone will approach Latvia from the south and will determine the weather conditions. Both at night and during the day, temperatures in many places will not exceed 0°C. Almost the entire country will see precipitation, mainly snow; however, in some coastal areas and Kurzeme, where temperatures rise above 0°C, wet snow and rain are expected.
