On Tuesday, Lāčplēsis Day, the skies will remain mostly cloudy. During the night, rain is expected in many places, while during the day it will fall occasionally in some areas, mostly light. With a light southerly wind, fog will form in some locations at night, especially in the eastern regions, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
During the dark hours of the day, air temperatures will drop to +1…+5°C (along the coast it will be slightly warmer — +5…+8°C), while daytime temperatures will not exceed +3…+8°C.
On Wednesday, the weather will be mostly cloudy, with occasional light rain or drizzle, mainly in the western and central regions. In the morning, with a weak wind, fog may form in some areas, reducing visibility. During the day, the south to southeast wind will gradually strengthen, reaching 15–17 m/s in coastal areas. At night, temperatures will drop to +1…+6°C, while during the day they will rise to +3…+8°C, reaching up to +10°C along the coast.
In the second half of the week, an active cyclone will approach Latvia from the northeast.
On Thursday, the sky will be overcast, and new precipitation zones will move across the country, bringing heavier rain to most regions. A light to moderate south to southwest wind will turn westerly by afternoon, becoming moderately strong along the coast, with gusts reaching 15–19 m/s. Air temperatures at night will fall to +2…+7°C, remaining slightly warmer near the coast. During the day, temperatures will gradually rise to +7…+11°C.
From Friday, the cyclone’s influence will weaken, and temperatures will begin to fall. Over the weekend nights, the thermometer will approach or drop below 0°C, especially in the eastern parts of the country. As precipitation is also expected at the end of the week, rain may mix with snow, and a thin temporary layer of snow may form in some places. Icy road conditions are likely on certain road sections.
