Ukrainian President awards Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže for supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty

By decree of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže (New Unity) has been awarded the Order of Merit, 2nd Class, according to information published on the website of the Embassy of Ukraine in Latvia.

The award was granted to the Latvian Foreign Minister for her significant personal contribution to strengthening intergovernmental cooperation, supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, participating in charitable activities, and promoting Ukraine internationally.

The embassy noted that the order recognizes Braže’s efforts in Latvia’s comprehensive support for Ukraine in the face of Russia’s illegal, unprovoked, full-scale invasion, her work in promoting Ukraine’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration, and her commitment to developing bilateral relations between Latvia and Ukraine.

On the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ official Facebook page,

Braže expressed her gratitude for the honor.

She emphasized that support for Ukraine has been provided by Latvia as a whole – made possible through the work and dedication of the entire foreign service, Latvian society, and both the public and private sectors acting in Ukraine’s favor.

“Our work does not stop, and Latvia continues to stand firmly with Ukraine in its fight for a just and sustainable peace, independence, freedom, and a European future,” Braže stated.
