Palestinian student posts antisemitic remarks; France suspends admissions of students from Gaza

France has suspended admissions of Palestinians fleeing Gaza while an investigation is underway after a Palestinian student posted anti-Semitic remarks online, the BBC reported.
The 25-year-old woman was studying in the northern French city of Lille and will now have to leave the country. The Palestinian arrived in France only recently, in July, and was scheduled to begin attending classes in the fall. The woman has been removed from the student roll following the incident.
France has helped more than 500 Palestinian refugees since an attack by the Hamas terrorist group on the 7th of October, 2023, sparking hostilities.
French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau wrote on X that he had requested the woman’s account be closed, adding that

Hamas propagandists were not welcome in the country.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said students already in France would be re-screened, given the mistakes that allowed the antisemitic student to enter the country.
The University of Lille confirmed to AFP that the online incident had occurred and said the woman’s posts were in direct conflict with the university’s values.
