On Monday, the sky will see variable cloud cover, and thunderclouds will form in the southwestern regions, bringing heavy downpours in some areas, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
During the night, with light winds blowing, fog will thicken in some areas, mainly in the east, reducing visibility. During the day, eastern winds will strengthen in the southwestern regions and become gusty during thunderstorms. At night, air temperatures will drop to +12…+17°C, while during the day it will warm up to +23…+27°C. It will be slightly cooler along the Gulf of Riga coast – around +20…+22°C.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, the weather will be mostly cloudy, with occasional glimpses of sunshine.
During the night into Tuesday, thunderstorms are expected in some areas, while during the day they will become widespread across the country, with very heavy downpours in the afternoon. On Wednesday, rain clouds will again bring showers to many areas, with strong thunderstorms expected in places. Winds will remain light, which will allow fog to form in some locations at night. Nighttime temperatures will range between +14…+18°C, while daytime temperatures will reach +21…+27°C, with slightly cooler conditions near the coast, as usual.
According to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre, a new cyclone will approach Latvia in the second half of the week, continuing to influence the weather into the weekend. As a result, sunshine will continue to alternate with clouds, which will bring rain across almost the entire country during the day, with occasional thunder heard in some places. Light winds will continue to prevail, though they may intensify sharply during thunderstorms. Air temperatures will remain similar, with daytime highs reaching +21…+26°C, except for the coastal areas, where it will be cooler.
