Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has appointed Hennadiy Shapovalov as commander of the land forces, replacing Mykhailo Drapatyi, Reuters reports.
Drapatyi resigned from his post after Russia launched an attack on a Ukrainian army training camp in southeastern Ukraine.
Shapovalov previously served as liaison At NATO coordination center in Germany
and as commander of Ukraine’s southern operational command.
In his evening address on the 19th of June, Zelensky said Shapovalov’s NATO experience could be used to make changes to Ukraine’s military. President stressed that changes are absolutely necessary.
