On Thursday night, the skies will be mostly cloudy, clearing only in the west by afternoon, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
Daytime temperatures will rise to between +20°C and +25°C, although along the coast and in parts of Vidzeme it will be cooler, ranging from +16°C to +21°C.
On Friday, skies will remain mostly cloudy, with some areas experiencing rainfall, and thunderstorms possible in the south. However, the rain intensity is expected to be lower than on Thursday. Overnight into Friday, fog will form in many eastern regions. A light wind will blow, turning from the south by late morning and slightly increasing in strength. Night temperatures will drop to +8°C to +12°C, and in eastern regions to +12°C to +15°C. During the day, air temperatures will generally reach +18°C to +23°C, and +14°C to +19°C in some coastal areas.
The Weekend Will Remain Rainy, with the Heaviest Forecasted Precipitation in the East, and Thunderstorms in Some Places on Saturday.
A light to moderate southerly wind is expected. At night, temperatures will not fall below +10°C, and during the day, many areas will reach between +18°C and +23°C, with cooler readings of +14°C to +19°C in coastal areas. In the new workweek, precipitation amounts will gradually decrease.
As warmer weather settles in, meteorological summer is expected to begin in parts of Latvia in the coming days, which means that the average daily temperature will reach +15°C for five consecutive days.
Meteorologists remind that during an unseasonably warm spell in April, meteorological summer already began early in Daugavpils and Rēzekne, and last week it started in Riga.
Around midday and in the afternoon, as the sun shines, the UV radiation level will be moderately high, so meteorologists advise people not to stay in direct sunlight for extended periods.
