Weather this week: Wet snow, rain, and a warmer weekend

On Monday morning, light precipitation is still expected in the eastern regions, where wet snow may also be observed in some places. A moderate northwesterly to westerly wind will blow, remaining gusty along the coast. During the day, temperatures will rise to between +6°C and +11°C, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.

On Tuesday morning, a new area of precipitation will reach Latvia from the west, bringing rain to most of the country throughout the day. By Wednesday, only the eastern regions are expected to see light rain. Westerly winds will continue to blow at a light to moderate pace, with gusts up to 15 m/s in western and central regions. Air temperatures at night and during the day will remain similar to Monday, with a slight risk of frost still present overnight.

In the second half of the week, the synoptic situation will remain similar, bringing a mix of sunshine and rain clouds. However, the wind will calm down and become light. Over the weekend, the sun is expected to shine a bit more, warming the air in parts of Latvia to +12°C to +15°C.

Next week, however, is likely to begin with cloudy skies, prolonged precipitation, and gusty winds across most of the country.
