Heat over easter – temperatures to reach summer levels

On Wednesday, starting from the second half of the night, cloud cover will increase from the south, and a small precipitation zone will begin to move across Latvia, bringing short-term rain in many places, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.

A light to moderate east and southeast wind will blow, and in some areas, fog may form. The night will be warm, with minimum air temperatures expected to range between +6 and +11 degrees Celsius. During the day, temperatures will rise to +15 to +20 degrees, and in coastal areas of Kurzeme near the gulf, up to +10 to +15 degrees.

Toward the end of the workweek, clouds will bring only occasional short-term rain in isolated areas, and overall, the weather will remain mostly dry. A light to moderate easterly wind will prevail. The weather will become even warmer, especially on Friday. Nighttime temperatures will remain between +6 and +13 degrees. On Thursday, temperatures across the country, except along the coast, will rise to +20 to +25 degrees, and on Good Friday, the sun will warm the air in many places to +25 to +27 degrees, meaning that some new heat records may be reached.

Saturday is likely to be the driest and sunniest of the holiday weekend, although Easter Sunday will also remain warm. There is a chance that temperatures may start to decrease again after Easter.
