After the collision of Danish and British cargo ships in the Baltic Sea, south of Sweden, one person of the two missing has been found dead. Swedish authorities have arrested two persons over the accident, Swedish news portal TheLocal.se reports.
Nine boats and a rescue helicopter searched for two missing crewmembers for hours following Monday night collision in the busy shipping waters between the Swedish city of Ystad and the Danish island of Bornholm. One victim was found inside the Danish ship, which has capsized. The other has not been found yet and the chances of finding him in the cold water are slim.
Sweden’s Prosecution Service announced in a statement on Monday afternoon that an investigation into «aggravated drunkenness at sea», «gross negligence in sea traffic» and «gross causing of death by negligence» had been opened. One of those arrested was a British citizen born in 1991 and the other a Croatian citizen born in 1965, the Swedish Prosecution Service stated, TheLocal.se reports.

Reportedly, in the Baltic Sea, to the south from Sweden, two cargo ships collided on Monday, December 13. A Danish ship has turned over apparently after hitting a British ship, The Local.dk wrote.
The unfortunate ships are Karin Høj, sailing under Danish flag, which is 55 metres long and 9 metres wide. It left Södertälje in Sweden on Saturday, December 11 and was on way to Nykøbing Falster in Denmark when it turned over. The other reportedly is the British-flagged ship Scot Carrier travelling from the Baltic states to Montrose in Scotland. It is larger, measuring 90 by 15 metres. Nine boats as well as a rescue helicopter were searching for the missing sailors in the cold water, the Swedish Maritime Administration stated, The Local.dk reported.
