Another snowstorm instead of spring: new snow cover in the east

In the second half of Wednesday night, skies will gradually become overcast from the northwest, and by morning, precipitation is expected across the entire country—rain, with wet snow and snow in central and eastern regions, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.

In the eastern regions, a new snow cover of 2–4 cm will form. Roads will be slippery, and during snowfall, visibility may occasionally drop to 500–1000 meters.

During the day, a moderate to moderately strong west to southwest wind will blow, shifting to the northwest and north by midday, with gusts reaching 15–19 m/s, and up to 22 m/s in coastal areas. Nighttime temperatures will range between -1°C and -6°C, and from -2°C to +2°C along the coast. During daylight hours, temperatures will rise to +2°C to +7°C.

In the second half of the week, cloud cover will periodically return, bringing precipitation to most of the country—mainly rain and wet snow, with snow expected again in the eastern regions. On Friday, another 2–4 cm layer of snow may form in the eastern part of the country.

Winds will remain gusty in many places. Nighttime temperatures will largely stay below 0°C, but by the weekend and early next week, it will gradually get warmer. In some areas, daytime temperatures may rise above +10°C.
