While this workweek in Latvia remains warm, a significant drop in temperatures is expected by the weekend. According to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre, nighttime frosts are forecast in many places, and daytime temperatures will fall noticeably, not exceeding +5°C. Gusty winds and even snow are expected.
Wednesday and Thursday will still be dry, with only partial cloud cover. With light winds, fog may form at night in some areas, especially in the west. On Wednesday, daytime temperatures will reach +14 to +18°C, and along the coast +10 to +15°C. On Thursday night, the temperature will drop to 0 to +4°C, while during the day, most of the country will enjoy warmth ranging from +15 to +20°C.
However, on Friday and over the weekend, northwesterly and northerly winds will strengthen, bringing a much colder air mass into the country.
Clouds will become more frequent, bringing precipitation, including snow. In much of the country, a snow cover will form, exceeding 5cm in some places. In eastern Latvia, it may persist for several days. Nighttime temperatures will fall to 0 to -5°C, and daytime highs will not exceed +5°C. Due to frost and snow, roads across Latvia will be slippery. The beginning of next week is also expected to be cold and windy.
