Putin wants no respite: Russia ignores calls for ceasefire

Russia on Thursday rejected a temporary ceasefire in its war against Ukraine, demanding “firm agreements on a final solution”.
Moscow has rejected both the temporary ceasefire for a month and the temporary cessation of air and naval hostilities proposed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and French President Emmanuel Macron.
Zelenskyy has offered an immediate cessation of air and naval attacks as a first step towards a possible peace deal, as demanded by US President Donald Trump, who has entered into unilateral talks with Moscow.
Macron also said in an interview with Le Figaro on Sunday that Paris and London were proposing a month-long ceasefire “in the air, on the sea and on energy infrastructure”.

But Moscow has categorically rejected these ideas.

“We need strong agreements on the final solution. Without that, some kind of respite is completely unacceptable,” Maria Zakharova, a spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, told a press conference.
Although Trump claims that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin wants peace, Moscow has not budged from its absurd demands and shows no sign of stopping the war it has started.
