On Tuesday, the 4th of February, weather in Latvia will be dictated by the south-western portion of a passing cyclone. This means there will be snow and wet snow from time to time. In coastal regions, where it will be slightly warmer, it will rain, as reported by Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
The layer of snow will reach 1-3 cm in central and eastern regions. The wind will blow from the west and north-west at night. Wind speed will go down during the day. Minimal air temperature on Tuesday will be +1° C… -4° C (-4° C… -7° C in north-eastern regions of Latvia). Daytime air temperature will reach 0° C… +3° C in the west and 0° C… -4° C in the east. Residents are advised to be cautious, as roads will become slippery due to lower air temperature and precipitation.
On Wednesday and Thursday, warmer masses of air will flow to the country from the west. This means air temperature will rise above 0° C again in many parts of the country. The sky will remain cloudy with only moments of clear sky. Latvia can expect precipitation at times – snow, wet snow, and rain along the coast. On Thursday, eastern regions will see an increase of the layer of snow by a couple of centimetres.
At the end of the week, atmospheric pressure will go up. Air temperature will go down and no significant precipitation will come.
