Days to become colder: air temperature in Latvia to drop below -10° C

On Wednesday and Thursday, warmer masses of air will flow to the country from the west, causing air temperature in western and central regions will rise above 0° C despite the slight frost in some areas, as reported by Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.

The sky will remain cloudy. The sun will shine in certain regions. Precipitation is expected in this period. There is also the possibility of freezing rain.

On Thursday the layer of snow will increase by a couple of centimetres. After the precipitation zone will have passed the country’s territory, fog will appear in western and central regions. The wind will be slow in most of the country and strong along the coast. Weather will remain similar on Friday. The sky will be mostly covered in clouds and it will snow at night.

The wind will be slow to moderate and from the east. Air temperature will drop as far as -8° C.

By the end of the week, atmospheric pressure will rise, the air temperature will drop, with the thermometer column dropping even below the 10° C mark in some parts at night. No significant precipitation is expected. Similar weather conditions will persist early next week.
