Winter weather this weekend – snow in the east and slippery roads in all of Latvia

On Friday, the 6th of December, weather will be mostly cloudy. The sky will clear up at times, letting the sun to shine, as reported by Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.

The day will pass without significant precipitation. Certain roads may become iced over – motorists are urged to be careful! The wind will blow from the south-east and south. Air temperature at night will drop to +1° C… -4° C, whereas daytime air temperature -2° C… +2° C.

Weather conditions will be similar on the weekend – the sky will be cloudy with moments of precipitation, mainly snow and wet snow.

Slightly more intensive snowing is expected in eastern parts of the country, where a 1-2 cm layer of snow is expected to form. Roads will become slippery in some areas! Slow to moderate winds will continue to blow from the east side, on Sunday morning it will cut in from the north-east, north. On Saturday night, the air will cool to -1° C… -5° C degrees, but in a day the air temperature will rise to -1° C… +1° C degree. On Sunday, the air will get a little warmer – the minimum air temperature at night will stick to -2° C… +1° C degree, but during the day air temperature will not drop below the 0° C degree mark.

The volume of precipitation will go down at the beginning of next week – rain and wet snow are mainly expected on the night to Monday. The sky will be covered in clouds, but there will be moments of clear sky.
