Ministers unusually active in debates for Latvia’s state budget for 2025

Unlike previous years, members of the government and deputies of the ruling coalition in Latvia are unusually active in Saeima debates for the state budget for 2025.

Budget review continues for the third day. Minister of Finance Arvils Ašeradens (JV), Minister of Transport Kaspars Briškens (P), Minister of Economics Viktors Valainis (ZZS), Minister of Education and Science Anda Čakša (JV), Minister of Defence Andris Sprūds (P), Minister of Agriculture Armands Krauze (ZZS) and Minister of the Interior Rihards Kozlovskis have all climbed the tribune in an effort to defend their respective sectors’ needs multiple times already.

Prime Minister Evika Siliņa has also explained her own position as to the most important financial document from the Saeima tribune.

By lunchtime, the Saeima had reviewed more than half of submitted proposals. A total of 311 proposals were submitted for the state budget plan.
