Considering the intense snowfall, which continues in Riga, meteorologists declare red warning level on Friday, 3 December.
The warning will remain in force until 20:00 p.m.
Latvian State Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre explains that snow clouds will continue forming above the Gulf of Riga, bringing intense snowfall with them. Considering that intense snowing is expected to continue. Visibility during snowfall may drop below 500 m.
In Vidzeme and the south-west of Kurzeme meteorologists have declared orange level warning due to intense snowing.
At 10:00 a.m. the layer of snow in the centre of Riga and Daugavgriva meteorological observation station was 21 cm (30 cm in Zvejniekciems and 31 cm in Sigulda and Rezekne).
