Opposition party Combined List (AS) has submitted a repeated request to Minister of Defence Andris Sprūds to attend a meeting of the Saeima faction and provide explanation as to his role and duties.
Members of the Saeima faction invited the minister to attend the faction’s meeting and provide explanations as to “many problematic situations” associated with responsible and efficient management of the defence sector.
Among the problems mentioned by AS Saeima faction leader Edgars Tavars was the Russian drone incident, the “military sculptural composition” outside Ādaži base in Kadaga and others.
In a statement released on Monday, Tavars said the minister’s refusal to provide explanations to Saeima deputies showed arrogance and negligence towards elementary principles of a parliamentary country.
