Last week, there were multiple “Z” symbols, which are associated with Russian aggression in Ukraine, found painted in multiple locations in Latgale, as reported by Latvian State Police.
On Sunday, the 29th of September, police received information that letter “Z” was written with green paint on two reflective road barrier signs on Ruduki-Medņi section of P47 motorway in Balvi County.
On Wednesday, the 2nd of October, State Police found a black “Z” painted on a tree near the road.
On Sunday, the 6th of October, a “Z” was found by the police on a wall of an abandoned building in Augšdaugava County.
State Police say that such cases indicate the use of symbols that glorify military aggression and war in a public place. Administrative violation procedures were initiated in all aforementioned cases.
