Unemployment level in Latvia higher than average in EU and Eurozone

In August 2024 the unemployment level in Latvia was 7%, which is higher than average in the European Union (EU) and Eurozone, according to data published by Eurostat.
According to available data, higher unemployment levels were higher in EU member states like Spain (11.3%), Greece (9.5%), Sweden (8.4%), Finland (8.3%), Lithuania and Estonia (7.9% in both), as well as France (7.5%).
The lowest unemployment level was registered in Czechia (2.6%), Poland (2.9%), Malta (3%), Slovenia (3.3%) and Germany (3.5%).
The average unemployment level in the EU, according to seasonally adjusted data, went down to 5.9% in August, as compared to 6% in July. In Eurozone the average in member states was at 6.4%.
Data from Eurostat indicates that in August 2024 there were 13.027 million jobless people in the EU, with 10.925 million of them in Eurozone member states.
