Latvia’s unemployment level remains the highest in Latgale region

At the end of March 2024 the level of registered unemployment in Latvia was at 5.8% of the economically active population, according to information published by the State Employment Agency (NVA).
At the end of March 2024 there were 50 738 unemployed people registered with NVA, which is 1 253 people fewer than the month prior.
The lowest unemployment level was observed in Riga region – 4.2% of the economically active population, which is 0.1 percentage points lower than a month prior. Unemployment remained the highest in Latgale region – 11.8%, which is 0.5 percentage points more when compared to February.
At the same time, the level of registered unemployment in Kurzeme was 5.6% of the economically active population at the end of March 2024, which is 0.3 percentage points less than the month prior.
In Zemgale and Vidzeme the registered level of unemployment remained unchanged in March and was 5.7% and 6.2% of the economically active population in each region respectively.
At the end of 2023 the level of registered unemployment in Latvia was 5.7% of the economically active population.
