On Tuesday, the 2nd of April, a new cyclone will approach Latvia from the south-west. This means the week will start off with rainy and windy weather, as reported by Latvian State Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
The sky will be cloudy. Some clear sky is expected in eastern parts of the country. Rain is expected in western and central regions. There is also a possibility of a thunderstorm. At night the wind will blow from the east. The wind will gradually blow from the south-west and west. Wind speed will go up as well, meteorologists say.
Weather will be pleasantly warm – daytime air temperature will reach +13° C… +18° C (+18° C… +21° C in Latgale). In Kurzeme air temperature will reach +7° C… +12° C.
Meteorologists say that on Wednesday cyclone activity will go up even more. The sky will be covered in clouds. Most of Latvia will experience precipitation. At night there will be mostly rain and wet snow. Eastern parts of the country may experience heavy rainfall with thunderstorms.
Snow is expected as well – in eastern regions the layer of snow may reach 1-4 cm.
Wind speed will go up – it will blow from the south-west and west. At night the wind will blow from the west and north-west. Along the coast wind speed will reach 15-19 m/sec. Colder masses from the north will replace warm masses of air from the south. On Wednesday both at night and during the day air temperature will stay at +1° C… +4° C.
Meteorologists say that in the coming days weather will remain rainy and cloudy. Wind speed will go down for a couple of days. Thursday night will be the coldest this week. Air temperature will be 0° C… +6° C in most of the country. On Friday, however, warmer masses of air will flow to the country again.
