By analyzing Google review scores and annual global Google searches for over 180 auto museums around the globe the Auto Trader’s recent research on the world’s best auto museums for car enthusiasts to visit in 2024 has revealed that the Gilmore Car Museum in Michigan as the top-rated museum with an impressive Google review score of 4.9 out of five stars, and 177 600 global searches. The Nethercutt Collection in California claims the second spot, scoring 4.9 and receiving nearly 100 000 annual searches.
One European attraction claims a spot in the top three best-rated auto museums, as Romania’s Țiriac Collection scores 4.9 and has 79 200 annual Google searches in countries around the world.
This is the only collection in the world with the 6 Rolls Royce Phantom (produced until 1972) and it also exhibits cars previously owned by stars such as Sir Elton John and Bernie Ecclestone.
Europe also features elsewhere in the top 20;
Automuziejus Vilnius in Lithuania is seventh on the list,
Brooklands Museum in England is ninth, Malta Classic Car Museum claims the 15th spot, the Great British Car Journey in Derbyshire England is 17th, followed by Rahmi M. Koç Museum in Istanbul in 18th and then
Latvia’s Riga Motor Museum is 19th.
The experts at Auto Trader also discovered a couple of ‘hidden gem’ exhibitions as part of their research. Boasting an impressive 4.9 out of five stars on Google, yet having minimal Google searches – implying that its fantastic auto exhibitions are flying under the radar of many car enthusiasts.
For example, Automuseum Vilnius in Lithuania which has only received 120 Google searches in the past 12 months, but boasts a review score of 4.9 out of 5. It exhibits more than 100 historical cars and motorcycles, where visitors can get a historical education on Lithuania’s involvement in the development of used materials and design over the decades.
A recent review says: “A great place for a motoring enthusiast. I didn’t expect it in Vilnius, but it is definitely worth visiting. I highly recommend this wonderful place.”
