The special permit to work with official secrets has been provided to all Saeima deputies for which applications were received, as LETA was told by the Constitution Protection Bureau (SAB).
Currently SAB does not have a single case left regarding permits for Saeima deputies to access official secrets. SAB also reports that none of the 14th Saeima deputies have had their permits annulled. The bureau also does not have any assessments in the works to annul any Saeima deputy’s permit to access official secrets.
In November 2023 SAB reported having received requests for the issuance of special permits to multiple Saeima deputies.
The Law on Official Secret states that background evaluation takes three months. If it is not possible to complete within this period of time, the term can be extended by another three months.
