Although the sun will appear at times on Thursday, the 8th of February, there will still be many clouds in the sky, bringing snow to vast territories in Latvia. Precipitation in western parts of the country is expected to be especially intense. A yellow level warning will be in effect at night, according to Latvian State Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
Wind speed will be slow throughout the day. Air temperature at night will drop to -5° C… -10° C (-15° C… -17° C in eastern areas). Along the coast, however, air temperature will be slightly warmer: -2° C… -7° C. Maximum daytime air temperature will reach +1° C… -3° C (-3° C… -8° C in eastern parts).
Meteorologists also say that at the end of the week there will be a cold mass of air in the sky above Latvia. This means air temperature will stay negative in most of Latvia at night and during the day. Air temperature during the day will stay at mostly -2° C… -8° C, whereas at night air temperature may drop as far as -18° C. Precipitation will calm down for the most part and wind speed is expected to be low.
Current forecasts for next week indicate weather should be calm and frosty in most of Latvia.
