The document published by German tabloid Bild, which suggests NATO’s preparations for a possible attack from Russia, is a scenario to be used in military drills. It’s not a report from secret services, said Director of the NATO Strategic Communications Centre of Excellence Jānis Sārts on X (formerly Twitter).
He said a scenario for military drills is always a made-up situation to test military capabilities in one field or the other. In the past “such scenarios were completely fictional with non-existent countries and geographies”. However, modern scenarios use real countries and geographies, Sārts explains.
At the same time, the expert stresses this is not a report from a secret service that predicts how the existing situation could develop.
